(it’s no) drama – Dreamweaver Installation

Dreamweaver is the latest creation by inclusive arts company (it’s no) drama in collaboration with artists Sarah Parkes and Michael Shirrefs. The work is an outdoor installation inspired by the rolling hills of South Gippsland and evokes human-like figures curled up like blankets, inhabiting the liminal space between waking and sleep. Crafted from repurposed silage wrap, the piece transforms discarded materials into something magical. An enchanting soundtrack creates an ethereal and immersive encounter—a sonic space to rest, reflect, and dream. Dreamweaver is supported by the Australian Government through the Festivals Australia program.
Ride the Wild Goat Sculpture Garden

This sculpture garden has been created by local artists Andrew McPherson and Isabel Whyte as both a gift to the community and an outlet for their creative spirit. Enjoy a wander through this evocative and contemplative space right next to our famous rail trail. The Sculpture Garden will be the site of our festival fire event on the evening of Saturday 23 May – be sure to catch that one!

Local artist Helen Sammonds, from The HandMakers Store, thinks any chain wire fence is a lost opportunity for art. She’s fixed that for us. It’s sooo much better now.
Sarah Saridis Exhibition @ Little Oberon

Sarah’s inspiration comes from the rugged beauty in the bushy coastal landscape where she lives in Walkerville, South Gippsland. It’s a beauty that reflects strength, endurance and vulnerability – in the twisted branches shaped by coastal winds, the intricate micro worlds of shape and pattern in plants and the majestic, ancient rock formations. Light and colour is her language to express an inner space, deeply felt through an intuitive response to the landscape. Little Oberon is open 9am to 2pm every day of the festival (except 10am on Sundays for a tiny sleep in)
A Thing (or Two) for Tea by Cathy Hayward @ Pain Perdu

Cathy’s solar-fired porcelain and stoneware can be found in some of Melbourne’s finest restaurants. Her teapots have gained recognition and awards for their elegance and faultless pouring. Pain Perdu is open each day of the festival – 9am – 4.30pm.
Alison Lester Gallery & Bookshop

Alison Lester’s Gallery is one of the town’s year round draw cards. Nestled in the heart of Fish Creek – not far from where Alison was born – and in the middle of the landscape that inspired her classic books, including My Farm. What a perfect fit with our festival theme! Alison is a national treasure and her books are beloved by generations of kids from around the world. A visit to her gallery and bookshop is a must for all ages. Open everyday of the Festival.

Visit our three Art Cubes (provided by South Gippsland Shire) in the Village Green to see who, how and why of (it’s no) drama Dreamweaver installation, Fish Creek’s farming and innovative history and our young members of the Fish Creek Primary School who have created the decorative bunting on display throughout the town. Altogether, it’s a talented town!
Tea Pot Exhibit @ Stefani Hilltop Gallery

Wander up the hill above Fish Creek on Keanes Road and discover a wonderland of creativity. Bianca Biesuz-Stefani’s gallery is housed in an historic home amid an orchard and small vineyard. As a special festival treat Bianca has a diverse collection of teapots on display in her Gallery as well as her exceptional artworks.

Permanent display of artworks Having spent over 35 years making things, largely in the solid timber furniture sector, Andy has built up phenomenal skills. He’s now turned those skills to making beautiful things. Andy’s gift is to see beauty where others may not and then, by presenting it in the right way, they can see it also. Sometimes that is as simple as lifting it from the ground and placing it on the wall. At other times it requires a great deal of manipulation. Knowing which to do is part of Andy’s creative magic. You will often find him in the workshop next to the gallery space creating the next piece. Closed Wednesday
Afternoon Teas at The Fishy Pub

The iconic Fishy Pub has a selection of baked goods and tea available for when your enthusiasm is strong but your body needs sustenance. Pop in for afternoon tea and cake revivals between 2 – 5pm during the festival ! While you are there check out local artist, Caron Jenkins, whose paintings represent the beauty of the Gippsland and Fish Creek environments. This area provides a never ending inspiration for her art. The Fishy Pub is open 12pm – 1am daily for lunch and dinner (or a refreshing bevvie).
Upcycling and Felting Old Woollen Knits

It’s about new skills and flexing the brain and hands whilst being part of our tea cosy festival magic. Come along and make a sustainably sourced scarf, tea cosy or oven mitt. It’s what we’re all about – our beloved tea cosies. Do you want to learn the basics, upskill, embellishments? Well our local legend Leonie will gently help you on your way. And then at the next festival you’ll be ready to cosy your way into our hearts and minds! Leonie Margetts moved to the area in 2004. She has five daughters and three grandchildren. She lives with her devoted dog Maisie who allows her to knit as long as she gets out for the occasional stroll. Leonie’s active, creative brain is always thinking of what to knit next and what colours will work with what. She’s always loved sewing and knitting and usually doesn’t need patterns – she just makes them up. Knitting tea cosies helped Leonie cope with the loss of her daughter to cancer in 2009. When Fish Creek held its first Tea Cosy Festival in 2013 she came second, with a design that to this day is one of her favourites. Over the years she has made hundreds – all original and whatever idea came into her mind. What a genius! Leonie is joining us to assist knitters with getting started, getting finished and creating any embellishments their active and creative brains dream up in the session. Leonie is running three sessions this week, so there’s plenty of opportunities to get that cosy completed! tickets earlybird prices to april 7
